So you took the plunge and upgraded to WordPress 3.0 but after the upgrade you keep getting the wp error message “an automated wordpress update has failed to complete”. Well do not worry there is an easy way to remove this message.
There is a file in the root directory that needs to be removed. You must access your cpanel and use file manager or login via ftp and find the following file: “.maintenance” then delete it.
Sometimes files that start with a . (dot) are hidden so you need to view hidden files.
Once you remove this file presto no more message saying “an automated wordpress update has failed to complete”.
